Vodafone – UEFA Champions League - Case Study

For this project PA SportEV’s technical and production skills are employed to deliver a solution for the delivery of UEFA Champions League in game goal clips. The project involves the download of content from a server, the addition of bumpers, the Portuguese voice-over and the delivery of encoded files to the relevant Vodafone Opcos across Europe.

The complexity emerged as the project developed and relationships with many different entities evolved, as well as the multiple format outputs for multiple platforms required by Vodafone.

PA SportEV managed this process as the central component of the delivery chain and the ensuing relationships with Vodafone Global and 9 Vodafone Opcos. The company also developed working relationships with five other partners of Vodafone and UEFA.
During this process the company was continually developing methods to improve the quality and lower the turnaround time of the clips.

The experience of receiving footage of 8 simultaneous games and delivering in multiple formats to multiple countries in several languages has given us an in-depth understanding of the project. We have had first hand experience of the problems that arise and the solutions that can be put in place to counter these problems. We know the handsets, the best footage to deliver to phones, the commentary teams, the system operators and the equipment and connectivity needed to deliver such content.
