Our Technology - Content Capture

PA SportEV can capture content by downlinking or from offline sources.

The primary method of feed capture is via 270 Mbit/s SDI lines (BT Facility Lines) that run over individual fibre optic links to the BT Facility switch at BT Tower. These only come above ground at their respective ingress and egress point and run next to BT’s own network.

The secondary method of feed capture is via a 1.8m offset satellite dish. This is located on the roof of the seven storey Globix House and has an unobstructed view of the southern sky. The size of the dish makes it highly resilient to signal degradation caused by adverse weather conditions.

Tandberg NDS receivers are used to capture satellite feed. This is in conjunction with a range of CAM based CI receivers which operate either with DVB QPSK/4:2:2 or DVB QPSK/4:2:0. The signal hand-off for both of these methods is SDI with embedded audio. The SDI feeds are then routed to our ten individual edit suites for processing or capture.
